The Speakers Series, a premier platform hosting thought-provoking events with influential speakers, spans five cities: St. Louis, Boston, Baltimore, Philadelphia, and Pittsburgh. Each location needed a dedicated website that catered to its unique audience while maintaining a cohesive brand identity. We were tasked with designing and developing a multi-site web solution that would deliver a consistent user experience, be easy for organizers to update, and provide audiences with localized event information.
Development Strategy
1. Centralized Design, Localized Content
To create a unified digital presence across all five locations, we designed identical websites in structure and layout, ensuring a seamless brand experience. However, each site featured:
- City-specific imagery to reflect local culture and landmarks.
- Tailored event calendars with details unique to the city’s Speaker Series lineup.
- Custom domains (e.g., bostonspeakers.org) to reinforce local identity while being easily discoverable.
2. User-Friendly Content Management
We developed a centralized content management system (CMS) that empowered their team to update their website effortlessly. Features included:
- An intuitive dashboard for adding new events, speaker profiles, and venue details.
- A shared library of branded assets to maintain design consistency across sites.
3. Responsive & Accessible Design
Recognizing that many users access event information on mobile devices, we prioritized responsive design for optimal viewing across devices. Accessibility standards were also a key focus. To ensure the websites were navigable for all users, including those with disabilities, we added our Accessibility Widget to all the sites so the user experience for disabled users could be customized.
4. Conversion-Focused Features
Each site was equipped with tools to drive engagement and ticket sales, such as:
- Prominent “Buy Tickets” calls-to-action.
- Integrated email sign-up forms for audience retention.
- Detailed speaker profiles and event overviews to inspire attendance.
