Sea Level restaurant, located on the Redondo Beach King Harbor waterfront, occupies the first level of the Shade Hotel Redondo Beach multi-level Culinary Building. Sea Level restaurant features Coastal California Cuisine where every seat has a view of the sunset and gorgeous marina. Opened in October 2016, Sea Level offers a chef-driven, farm-to-table menu and boasts Shade signature living walls, open air space and staff that goes above and beyond.
Shade Hotel draws its inspiration from nature. It uses natural light to create serene lavish spaces for guests to enjoy. Its color palette of sand and stone provide a nice backdrop for the restaurant’s soft blues and white. This further reinforces the brand’s warmth and sophistication which we drew upon when working on this project.
Sea Level restaurant branding started with a name
From the start, we were involved at every stage of the brand development process. Since Sea Level was a new property, our branding project started with a name. To do this required market research and competitive analysis of the surrounding Redondo harbor restaurants. Our team participated in planning meetings with marketing, finance, engineers and architectural designers to make our recommendations for the naming strategy.
Our scope not only included naming the restaurant itself, but also involved naming the other levels of the Culinary Building to maintain a consistent brand feel. The middle level is the main events level and it is aptly named Horizon for its middle location. The top level with its breathtaking views and open air deck above the marina is named Sky.
The second phase of the project was the creative design of all the brand assets. We designed the logo, signage and launch menu for Sea Level, along with various other design projects related to the hotel itself. Each stage of the project had its unique challenges and lessons learned. We had such a great time working with the Zislis Group, and are quite honored to have been chosen to work in such a beautiful location.
